TDI Jetta, 99, Silver`. Oct 2, 2011. #2. If it is leaking that badly, washing the engine down and close inspection when it is restarted will show the source. The most common leak on the PD's is the valve cover gasket. They can be difficult to keep aligned in the valve cover when installing. Also, if the cam has been removed, the end caps need
Oilleaks onto ground. i. Smokes on cold start-up. j. Smokes under full acceleration The TDI engine seems to take longer to break in than gasoline engines. - Automatic transmission models have about 20% to 25% higher fuel consumption than those with manual transmission. - EGR valve, or EGR solenoid valve, may be sticking.
Re Tandem Pump Leak, 1.9 TDI. So I found the leak. I looked up what the tandem Pump looks disassembled and I saw that the vacuum pump does indeed have a coating of oil inside the pump. Now my pump was leaking out of the vacuum hole, but I couldn't understand it because the vacuum line to that hole had no trace of oil.
TheVW T4 isn’t renowned for head gasket failure, it has a pretty strong head on it. The most common cause is either: Check the oil heat exchanger (the oil filter screws to it). These are prone to leaking and when they do, the symptoms are the same as a head gasket failure but a fraction of the cost.
Connecta hand vacuum pump to the EGR valve in place of the vacuum hose and apply 15 in-Hg of vacuum to the valve (if you don't have access to a vacuum pump you may borrow-rent one from a local auto parts store). As you apply vacuum to the valve, check for diaphragm movement. Also, pay attention to engine idle.
TheEGR valve can either open or close, depending on its operation. The EGR valve has about two main settings: open and closed. This position may vary at any point of operation. Your vehicle’s EGR valve closes when the engine kicks off. When idling at a low speed, a small amount of power is needed, and therefore a small amount of
Askedon 3 October 2016 by sps. Answered by Honest John. The turbo will have failed because the engine was regularly switched off when the turbo was too hot and the turbo bearing oil feed and oil return pipes became clogged with carbon. Fairly normal for a VAG TDI to need either a new EGR or the EGR cleaning out (they are fragile and can break
TodayI put in the fuel filter 8ml Toralin UV dye and ran the car for 60 seconds at 2000-3000rmp. Opened up the valve cover and only saw a faint sign of UV dye on
. #1. Hi guys. My VW Jetta 1.9 TDI smokes light blue smoke when it is cold. Its not a huge plume of blue smoke, it is just a small puff and is more apparent when driving while it is cold and only visible when you are behind the car as the smoke isn't major. The issue is, it is losing oil. The smoking is almost immediate so that
. Location. NY. TDI. 2002 Jetta TDI. Nov 15, 2007. #6. I also had the whistling noise on acceleration on my 2002 Jetta. It turns out the hose from the turbo to the cooler in front of the passenger side tire had come apart and the whistling was the output air of the turbo coming out of the hose separation.
First the pressure of the exhaust gas must be relatively high, as the EGR is taking exhaust off from the manifold section in between the cylinders and the turbo. This then means that if the egr valve and bypass flap are both open, high pressure exhaust will actually displace intake air in the total air intake charge.
Thecost to repair an oil leak depends on how many hours of labor are required to access it and its complexity. In general, expect to pay in parts and labor, $100-$350 to replace the oil drain plug gasket; $427-$512 to replace the oil pan gasket; $217-$263 to replace valve cover gaskets, and $650-$850 to replace the rear crankshaft seal.
TDI '04 ALH Golf. Apr 4, 2011. #2. This may appear in several different forms, depending on where and how bad it is. There may be an unexplained loss of coolant with a lot of white smoke from the exhaust, or rising oil level causing the oil to look like a chocolate milkshake. You may see soot in the coolant reservoir, or the cooling system

Have the engine management light on too. Thinking it may be a a leak in a boost hose or pressure control valve, but all the diagnostics says is
